Biography

Calvin graduated with a Bachelor of Laws with Second Class Honours and a Bachelor of Arts (Chinese) from the University of Queensland in 2014 and was admitted as a lawyer in the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2018. Prior to joining BIA, Calvin was a Partner at a multidisciplinary corporate services firm in Thailand. Before that, he received his legal training at a leading GAR 100 arbitration firm. In this role, Calvin worked as part of teams advising on high-value claims as counsel, sole arbitrator, or co-arbitrator in multifaceted international arbitrations conducted in Arabic, French, and English brought both ad hoc and under a variety of institutional rules and subject to a wide range of applicable laws from within the MENA region and beyond. On the litigation front, he was involved in the representation of foreign states, major foreign public law entities and multinational companies before the courts in high stake disputes and advising on world-wide freezing injunctions and cross-border asset tracking issues and related litigation. Prior to that, Calvin worked in Egypt, Ghana and Thailand, for a consulting firm, a human rights advocacy organization, and UNESCO.
